Rest days
One of the most overlooked things in lifting weights is days off. There are a a multitude of articles dealing with training and what to do to make each bodypart grow, but nothing really addresses the time that's spent in between workouts, or the days where you just do nothing.
Sometimes the days fall on weekdays or days where you have to work, so these are a bit easier to deal with since it allows for a more relaxing time after work. However, weekends always seem to be harder to not train on, since there is more free time generally than during the week. When I was back in Esquimalt (and when I will be back there), when the ship is alongside, it's easier for me to train during the week. Depending on your work hours and what your needs are after work, it can be easier to work on weekends or it can be easier to work during the week and leave the weekend for socializing.
Regardless, the most important part of the rest days is to enjoy it. Forced days off are another matter, but on rest days you should be enjoying some time away from the gym. It allows your body and mind to recharge and it will give you that extra drive to head back the next day. Do things you dont normally get to do during the week. Still eat good meals, but don't be overly strict. That's about it.
